Matthew Chiarot Obituary Ontario, Funeral Arrangements

On September 22, 2023, the world lost a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Matthew Chiarot, who passed away peacefully at the age of 60 at Juravinski Hospital, leaves behind a legacy of love, inspiration, and unwavering dedication to his family, students, athletes, and friends. As we come together to remember this remarkable individual, we celebrate a life filled with passion, sportsmanship, and the profound impact he had on those fortunate enough to know him.

Matt’s journey through life was marked by love and commitment. He shared 35 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Tara (Herzinger), a partnership that was the cornerstone of his happiness. Their love story was an inspiration to all who knew them, a testament to the enduring power of love and devotion.

Family meant everything to Matt. He was a devoted father to his four children: Taylor (Jay), Ben (Jacqueline), Josh, and Aaron. The love and support he provided to them were immeasurable. Matt’s role as a loving grandfather to Emmerson and Kellan added another layer of joy to his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

In the tapestry of Matt’s life, his siblings played a crucial role. He was a much-loved brother to Gordon (late Claudia), Katherine (Stephen), and Mary (Bryan). The bonds of brotherhood were unbreakable, and together, they shared countless memories and experiences. Matt was also a dear brother-in-law to Eddie Herzinger (Lisa), further extending his family connections.

Matt’s extended family included many wonderful cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart. He valued these relationships deeply and enjoyed the moments of togetherness that they shared. While Matt’s parents, Gordon and Margaret (Kelly), have passed away, their love and guidance continued to shape his life, and their memory lived on in his heart.

Teaching and coaching were Matt’s true calling in life. He was a born teacher, imparting knowledge, wisdom, and a passion for learning to countless students over the years. His impact extended far beyond the classroom as he touched the lives of young minds, leaving an indelible mark on their educational journeys.

In the world of sports, Matt was a force to be reckoned with. His love for football was evident from a young age, and he pursued his passion with unwavering determination. He played football at Western University, where he displayed exceptional talent and sportsmanship on the field. His enthusiasm for the game was infectious, and it was no surprise that he went on to coach football at both McMaster University and Cathedral High School.

As a coach, Matt not only taught the intricacies of the sport but also instilled values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance in his players. He became a mentor and a father figure to many, guiding them not only in football but also in life. The legacy of his coaching will continue to inspire generations of athletes.

Matt was not just a coach; he was a passionate sports enthusiast who loved watching games, cheering for his favorite teams, and celebrating the victories and defeats of the sports world. His loyalty to the Cleveland Browns, Toronto Blue Jays, and Toronto Maple Leafs was unwavering, a testament to his dedication as a fan.

However, Matt’s love for sports extended beyond the professional arena. He found immense joy in watching his children play the sports they loved. Whether it was a soccer match, a baseball game, or a hockey tournament, Matt was always there, proudly cheering on his children from the sidelines. His unwavering support and encouragement undoubtedly fueled their passion for sports.

Beyond his love for sports, Matt shared many precious moments with his wife, Tara. They enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, from attending live music events to cheering on their children together. Their dog Rosie was also an integral part of their family, providing them with endless joy and companionship.

During Matt’s final days, he received exceptional care from the compassionate staff at Juravinski Hospital, particularly on C3. Their dedication and support provided comfort to Matt and his family during a challenging time.
