This foolish act of violence had terrible repercussions. The 33-year-old victim of the gunfire was taken to Stroger Hospital but died as a result of his wounds. Two more males, ages 38 and 31, one with a head injury and the other with a lower back gunshot wound, were taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital. Aiden Corothers, 7, who was one of the casualties, had his head grazed. He was in fair condition when he was taken to Stroger Hospital.
Aiden’s mother, Laparis Jordan, who spoke with ABC7 at the hospital, described the terrifying ordeal her son had endured. Aiden was playing outside, riding his scooter, when the shooting erupted. He witnessed the approaching vehicle and the gunman’s actions, causing him to experience fear and trauma. Laparis Jordan expressed concerns about her son’s psychological well-being, recognizing the need for therapy to help him cope with the trauma he had witnessed.

Gerri Young, a resident near the scene of the incident, spoke of her shock upon hearing the news of a child being shot in the area.
